Erna Sue Wood of Locust Grove, beloved mother of Jerry and Michael Runion, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She is survived not only by her two sons and four grandchildren, Jake, Brittany, Ethan and Isla, but also by the many children she “adopted,” most notably Brian Ball, Richard Sampson and Darryl Trudeau. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lee, David, Mary Alice and Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Eva; and her sister, Nancy.
Sue was a woman of service, dedicated to her family and the children of Fredericksburg Academy, where she was employed for 24 years. Sue left an immense legacy in the lives she touched, the children she raised, in whole or in part, and the many lucky recipients of her boundless love and sarcastic humor.
Donations may be made to the Sue Wood Memorial Fund to provide scholarships for children to attend Fredericksburg Academy.
